RepRap - Rapid prototyping on the "cheap"

I know this may be a little off topic, but have any of you animators been following the development of the reprap project. http://reprap.org/bin/view/Main/WebHome Its basically a machine for making 3D objects in plastic from computer models. I thought it may be nice for making that difficult to model object. It could also be used for puppets heads and armature parts. In fact just about anything you can model in a computer. The parts also spray and paint quite well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdzooQQDWGg&feature=related I particularly liked the turkey in the above video! You can build one for 400 or a full kit of parts from 750. Im toying with the idea of buying one for some engineering projects I have, but I could spot the potential for set building. If you want to find out more youtube or google "reprap"

Wow, really cool - I like their approach of shared plans and self-replicating (or at least 60%). Out of my price range even at that, but I'd love to see what someone could do with it - if you get one I hope you post often and detailed!
